Risks of HIV are ignored by young black men in the South

A new survey reveals that among young black men who intified as gay or bisexual,

most had engaged in risky sexual behaviors but thought it unlikely they would be infected, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The New York Times reports that more than half of the survey participants had engaged in high-risk activities, while an overwhelming majority did not think that their behaviors would put them at increased risk of acquiring HIV.

Only three of 29 men thought that they considered likely to acquire HIV in the course of their entire lifetimes.
